I fell in love with a bassoon passage in the minuet in Haydn's Sixth Symphony and wrote a chaconne based on it for two bassoon soloists and chamber orchestra (longer title, Chaconne on Haydn's Sixth Symphony Bassoon Passage, etc., sold separately). I realized that I could arrange this for wind quintet. My beginning and ending are pretty much the way Haydn wrote them for bassoon and strings. Between these I have various arrangements accompanying the passage, which gets played by other instruments as well as the bassoon. My favorite arrangement could be labeled "Americana" since it includes references to My Darling Clementine and Stars and Stripes Forever. The sound clip is computer-generated.
